I'm not even sure if the keyboard is a stand alone unit (like the
TRS80) or if the computer is actually in the expansion box.
So basically I was wondering if it was worth getting. I'm concerned
that I'll never be able to work out how to build a connector cable if
it's substantially different from the TRS80 type.
Thanks in advance
Phil
Are you sure it isn't a clone? I've never heard of one. Any
description?
Am very interested in this. Would love to know if TEAC made a TRS-80
clone, even if it was an OEM pocket computer...
Google search shows one Japanese article using such a model for
scientifc sensing. ref: http://www.google.com/search?q=Teac%2FTandy+PS-80
Do you have a link?
Frank Durda IV are you out there? Hoping you might comment on any
knowledge you might have of any Tandy foreign TRS-80 collaboration
deals. It appears clear that TEAC did in fact make a Tandy TRS-80
device -- same keyboard plastics but *white* in color -!
Does anyone know of the differences on this unit or even the Belgium
models? Are the rear interface ports different here? They sure look
to be. Not sure what some of those ports do.
I recall a fews years back being surprised to find a Chinese book
(Taiwanese-?) on the TRS-80, written in Chinese... which sort of made
me think there perhaps were TRS-80's or clones or licensed versions,
for that market but I've never seen anything proof of it. This
Japanese Model 1 (?) TEAC / TANDY PS-80 is the first hard evidence of
a real Asian TRS-80 alternative that I've heard of.
Take a look at the photos before they are gone from the Yahoo! Japan
auction site: http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h130410938
(Thanks to Phil for sending this info!!!)

This is as weird as Homer Simpson finding his face on a box of
Japanese soap powder!
According to Google:
"A set of body and keyboard. No cable connecting the keyboard and the
console. Will not work? Or even. The main A / D products are rare SASAっ
the conversion board. On the display."
Started at 2,000 yen, won at 14,980 yen.
If someone paid, Tandy would deliver... You'd be amazed at some of the
stuff that Tandy did that went out with other names on it.
When I saw my first 'white Model II', I wanted one! And a lot of other
people felt the same way. The silver had to go!
I think almost all the TRS-80 line also went out as 'Tandy' at one point
or another. Well, at least the US manufactured line.
