Can someone direct me to technical references on TRSDOS, prior to
version 6.0. Particularly, I'm trying to learn about directory
structure, but a broader reference would also be apprciated.

Also, I may eventually want to know about NewDOS/LDOS, etc, so those
links would be squirreled away for a later study.

Thanks.

Off the top of my head there was "Disk and Other Mysteries", and IJG
published a book or two as well. Did you look on Wikipedia?

I did, but no joy. There's a book entitled "TRSDOS 2.3 Decoded" that
I'd love to have a look at, but the only copies I can find are $70.

There is some information lying around for TRSDOS 6, NEWDOS/80 v2 and
LDOS 5.1, but I can't seem to find much on early TRSDOS.

Try asking on the TRS-80 group on Yahoo. There are a couple more mail
lists but that's the main one.

IJG's "Disk and Other Mysteries" is a good start.

Some of the "The Alternate Source" magazines I believe described some
details. Here is a description of that magazine:

I am guessing that the book you referred to has been digitally
archived so it should be available somewhere. Also the "Disk and
Other Mysteries" might be a good reference. --
