I am looking for a tool/way to send an email from Tandem through an Exchange
server.
Does anyone know how to do that?

Kind regards,

Sjaak

MS Exchange comes with a program called SMTP Relay. Run that and then write
a simple program on the Tandem to communicate with it via SMTP. SMTP is
really a trivial protocol (http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2821.txt) if you
don't get involved in things like MIME. If you don't want to roll your own,
then you could use SendMail from Bowden Systems, Inc. at
http://www.bsi2.com
If you're not intending to RECEIVE mail on the Tandem, then SendMail is
overkill.

Hi!
A good program for sending mails from Tandem is located at Lars
Jansen's site at the following location.
http://larsjansen.com/c-programs.html
The program pointed to by "sendmail" link can be compiled using C
compiler and the object is ready to run.
It is a very simple C program.

Best luck,
Sharma

Hi, Sharma,

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the SENDMAIL source, which compiled
without any problem and tested it.
This is exactly what I need.

Regards,

Sjaak

Have a kind of freeware thing on our K2000 that can send a file (which is
actually the mail message) to a smtp host. We normally send to Lotus Notes.
It does not require sendmail or Tandem Transfer product. Only problem is,
I don't have the source code, just the object file.

Just a note to those who want to use free sendmail
on the nsk. Do not count on fast mail delivery even
on a S74K system. The original version of sendmail
will produce very slow delivery of mail.

OK...I'll bite. What is the original version of sendmail doing that makes it
very slow on the NSK?
