I am trying to send file from mainframe to tandem via connect direct and getting error:
Guardian Error "Guardian Error" occured on tcp/ip operation"receive_tcp_ru_nowait" in C:D
Function "Recv_nw"

netmap, LU and secure+ are all fine. Is there anything wrong with TCP process ?

What Guardian error number your application received? Any idea?

Clearly the recv_nw is failing and I thought your NDMLOG will at least reveal some more info. What else? Let me think for a while and then I will get back.

I know nothing about Connect Direct, so maybe my opinion is out of order, but it sure seems to me that Connect Direct is rather deficient in this situation in that it reports the TCP/IP operation and function within Connect Direct that is getting the error, but neglects to report the actual error number. What were they thinking?

Have you checked obvious things, such as whether the destination filename is valid, the volume is up and working and not too full, etc? Have you looked in the NonStop system's event log for any error messages around the time of the attempted transfer that might be relevant?

File name, file size are all correct. I can see following in system logs
TCP/IP error on recv_ne (receive_tcp_ru_nowait) ERRNO=1 <guardian error>

Error 1 is EOF.
Just for info: Connect Direct is a product to send or receive files.
Usually there should be no problem sending a file from mainframe to NonStop. As far as I know Connect Direct is using protocols like FTP or SFTP. Which protocol is your transfer using?
A very common problem in that case is the Firewall configuration, please remind that you need 2 ports for FTP (21 and 20), many people forget that you need either port 20 or have to use FTP with passive mode to avoid using this port.

I'm curious why you don't check with he Direct Connect folks. Don't they provide support any more?

You should check Mainframes logs also. Sometimes C:D give strange errors, but the solution could be on the other node.

C:D is usually using it's own file transfer (copy) mechanism on many different protocols (SNA, X.25, TCP/IP), not FTP or SFTP (this is only add on to C:D).

C:D is now part of IBM :)

HI,

The issue was with the SYSOPTS parameter being used at IBM mainframes which has different syntax for Tandem/unix/VMS.

Thanks for your help :)
