Configuration: 8k processors, 32 bit floating point accelerators,
256 Mbyte memory in the large CM2 cabinet with
possibility to expand to 64 k processors and 8 Gbyte
memory.
Performance: Practical peak performance about 1 GFLOPS.
Price: $285.000
The machine is under a current maintenance contract from Thinking Machines
so there should be no problem to transfer the maintenance and software
contracts.
With the current rules for export administration this computer is
classified as a supercomputer which means there are certain restrictions
on where we can export this system.
Note that we are still satisfied customers of Thinking Machines
and that we will continue to use Connection Machines.
With the recent release of the CM5 we think Thinking Machines
has proved itself as the leading manufacture of parallel
supercomputers.
This offer can be considered as a very cheap entry into parallel
supercomputing. Note that the programming model used on the CM2
still are used on the CM5 and that software easily can be ported to the
CM5 when those computers become more readily available.
