FAQ ? SunOS licensing for a used WS

I'm thinking of buying a used Sun3 workstation and shoebox separately.
Can I just copy anyone's SunOS 4.1.1 tape (I didn't think so) ? Do I have some
sort of "right-to-use" licence for whatever OS rev the machine originally
shipped with ? Is there any cheap way to get access to a copy of the OS ?
