Now, no SCSI devices are recognized, and at the
OBP prompt, 'probe-scsi all' just returns 'ok'.
I attempted to install Solaris 9 off a CD, and
I get reset errors on SCSI device 3, even though
the SCSI IDs are 1 & 2.
Is it possible to get this controller to work in
an Ultra 10? If anyone has done it, I would really
like to hear about it.

Did you try a boot -r?
>OBP prompt, 'probe-scsi all' just returns 'ok'.
OK, the prom might not be able to communicate with the 53c1010
not a problem unless you must boot from it.
What OBP version do you enjoy on your U10?
Also the latest glm-patch might help.

The OBP version is 3.31.
I didn't try boot -r, but I did attempt to boot off the Solaris 9 software
CD,
and it could not find any SCSI drives.
I switched back to the 8751sp, and it works ok again. I did try the U160
controller in a PC, and it seems ok Also, there isn't any newer firmware
available from LSI Logic.
One thing I am curious about is that when I swapped controllers, the setting
in OBP for boot-device was reset to 'disk net'. This doesn't work with a
SCSCI drive. I could not remember the correct setting, so I had to
reinstall.
It is something like '/pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@3/d ...'
printenv truncates the entry so I can't tell exactly. Probably disk + SCSI
ID,
and maybe slice.
Maybe if I knew the full string I could force it with the other controller,
and it
would work.
