The following is a message from Quantum tech support in regard to the
boot problem with the Quantum Atlas IV in a Sparc 5. This fix worked
fine for me and I am now able to boot from the Quantum drive. I have
attached a link to the file I received from them and will leave it on my
server for a few weeks. Hope this helps!

??? I may miss something, but a sparc 5 is not a MS-DOS machine. I don't even
know if they can possibly boot from floppy. It is certainly not called a:,
and DOS programs will not work.

Could you elaborate on this?

Cheers,

In order to do this, you must "temporarily" put the Atlas IV drive on a DOS
machine and use that "scsi.exe" file to change the drive definitions of the drive
so that it reports as a scsi-2 device. If you cannot connect the Atlas IV drive
to a DOS machine you can't do this. You will most likely need a SCA to 50 pin
adapter. Once the drive reports itself as a scsi-2 device, you will be able to
boot off it, and the drive will show up properly when doing a "probe-scsi-all".
