Simple, central multi-user control for Sun servers
The MasterConsole family of KVM switch products provides reliable,
central control of multiple computers for the simplest to the most complex
requirements. Our innovative MasterConsole SMX models enable one, two, or
four simultaneous users to access and operate any one of 8 or 16 Sun
servers. You can control up to 256 Sun servers by cascading SMX units.
The SMX will eliminate the cost and clutter of unnecessary equipment,
reclaim space, and improve operational productivity for a host of

The advanced on-screen user interface with multi-level security makes
operation with the SMX simple and secure. Raritan's unique emulation
technology, which dedicates an individual processor to each channel, means
smooth, flawless switching and operation of any mix of Sun servers. Just
connect Sun servers, plug in a user console (Sun keyboard, Sun monitor, Sun
mouse), and operate.
There are three MasterConsole SMX models. SMX18 controls 8 Sun servers
from one user console (Sun keyboard, monitor, and mouse), SMX28 controls 8
Sun servers from two user consoles and SMX416 controls 16 Sun servers from
four user consoles.
Cascade models to access and control up to 256 Sun servers from one to
four user consoles.
The on-screen user interface simplifies both user operation and
systems management. Systems Administration menus provide for assigning
meaningful names to each connected Sun server and maintaining the list of
names of authorized users. Also, if desired, you can assign security
classifications to each server and access rights to each user. Each user's
on-screen menu shows which servers are available for selection. When
selected, the server's name and channel ID are displayed on the screen for
positive identification and that server is now unavailable to the other
users for the SMX28 and SMX416. On these models a user-selectable PublicView
feature allows one or more users to simultaneously view the same video.
Installation is simple and neat. Connect Sun servers, user consoles,
and cascaded SMX units with our easy-to-manage, coaxial cables in lengths of
2, 6.5, 13, 20, and 30 feet, with extensions to 60 feet. With Raritan's SMX
you have the flexibility to organize and manage your Sun servers for maximum
operational productivity.
