I have a Sun3 shoebox with a Micropolis 1355 EDSI disk that I'm trying
to replace with a Micropolis 1558 ESDI disk. This is my primary drive
and in the process of installing 4.1.1 I get the following result from
format:

The 1558 was happily running MS-DOS without problems, so I'm not
inclined to suspect the drive immediately. I've checked that
the 1558 is jumpered for 35 sectors per track.

Can anyone shed light on why it can't save the backup defect list
and label info?
