I am trying to resurrect an old sparc 10 ..
here is the info on the machine.

SPARCstation 10 -> 501-2259
SM30 SuperSparc Module SS10 -> 501-2239 ( 36 Mhz ) looks to be 03 Rev 50
ROM Rev 2.10
16 Meg x 4 -> 501-2273

SIMMS are located in the correct slots on the mainboard ( used the FE
books to make sure )

1.0 Gig Drive
external CD-ROM in a 411 Case hooked up to the HD 50

when I try to boot from CD-ROM Solaris 2.6 ( 5-98 ). I get the
following error ..

( Can't deduct panicbuf from physical memory list ) program terminated

when I try to boot from CD-ROM Solaris 7 ( 11-99 ). I get the
following error

the program you just tried to load doesnt seem to be executable ..

any help would be appreciated ... or if this is a lost cause anyone
want this box ...

Hit Stop-A during boot and check that all of your memory is actually
being seen and tested.

Now say probe-scsi-all at the ok> prompt and check what SCSI devices
you have.

The HD should be on id3 and the CD should be on id6.

Now say printenv at the ok> prompt and check that nobody has fooled
with the boot-device setting. If necessary tell it to set-defaults.

Now try telling it to boot cdrom.

Is your external SCSI chain properly terminated ?
Is your CD device Sun-compatible ? - it must use 512 byte blocks
rather than the usual default of 2048 bytes. Many SCSI CDROMs have
a jumper to set this.

Have you checked that the CD is actually any good on another machine ?
There are some bum CDs around.
