You shouldn't need an /etc/format.dat entry to add a SCSI disk. The
Solaris format command is capable of determining how big a SCSI disk is
without any "hints" from /etc/format.dat.

If you have trouble getting the format.dat
Let me know. I have a copy of PTI SCSI tools 32 Demo
It will create a Sun Label and a format.dat entry for you.

Will that PTI SCSI tools utility work for an Iomega JAZ drive too?
I have been trying to get my external 1GB JAZ drive to work with my
Sparcstation 20 running Solaris 7, with no luck. I have tried all the
format.dat entries that I got from sunhelp.org, and elsewhere, but none
work.
Thanks!

I have not tried it on a removable drive.
After you install. Look for Workststion Prep.
Good Luck,
