I found a printer server, namely the Intel Netport Express XL. Since I
don't have a parallel interface in my SPARCstation at home, it seemed
like the perfect choice for me - 10-BaseT in, two parallel (and one
serial?) ports out. Luckily, they knew next to nothing about this thing,
so I got it practically for free! :-)
I made a 10Base-T crossover cable and hooked up the thing to my Sun. Lo
and behold - it happily started spewing out Ethernet frames!

The question is: Does anyone know if I can make it talk to my
SPARCstation running Solaris 2.5 in any way? It doesn't seem to be
fluent in TCP/IP, as far as I can tell. :-)
I didn't get any manual or any kind of software for the thing, so it
might run a proprietary PC protocol of some sorts, and I'm out of luck.
It would be real neat if I could put it to some use, though.
