I just recently installed Solaris 8 on an Ultra 5 machine. I have an old
Sun monitor (type 449a) which is smaller than most modern monitors but just
okay for my use at the moment (it seems). I just wished to make the fonts a
little bit larger to improve readability. I already configured the Font
Style Manager. Some of the applications are now using larger fonts but
there are still some applications (e.g. Netscape and Java applications)
which are using very small fonts no matter what my setting in Font Style
Manager is. Could somebody please tell me how to make the fonts a little
bit larger?

Nobody here knows the answer to this question? I thought this news group is
a forum for Sun experts. :)

Generic X apps may pay attention to X resources managed by xrdb. Perhaps you
might create a file named ~/.Xresources and read it via:

xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources

An example of setting the font for "xterm":

xterm*font: 6x13
xterm*ScrollBar: on
xterm*jumpScroll: true
xterm*reverseWrap: true
xterm*saveLines: 1024
[ ... ]

I can't help with java but there are a few web pages I have seen
about changing fonts with Netscape. Try a search of http://www.google.com
with the words netscape, fonts, ugly, linux, etc. You get the idea.

There was one package at one time called mozilla-fonts that you could
add.
