Hello all,

I've searched t'internet and can't seem to find a diy kempston joystick
interface project...anyone know of one?

What I'd really like to build is a kempston interface with a pass
through port so I can plug in other bits (divIDE) as well... Anyone got
anything that could help me?

Thanks

Gareth

I've found a diagram:
http://8bit.yarek.pl/hardware/zx.joystick/KJschem.gif so I should be
able to knock something up from that.

But...how do I do a through port? Is it just pass all of the inputs
through or will that cause problems if something uses the same pins as
the joystick?

thanks

gareth

No a through port is just as you say, a through connection. The only
problems are the capacitance of the circuit and any interference that may
get put onto the lines by it.

I know, for instance that the easiest way to stop a toaster 128 is stick a
ribbon cable on the expansion port. You only need about 6ins!

Ooooh, oooh, oooh, that's given me an idea...

What if I just created a triple ended ribbon cable, plugged the middle
bit into the edge connector and put edge connectors on the two other
ends - would that work?

You would need to reverse the tracks on the pcbs with plated through holes,
as if you work it out, they would otherwise be mirror images.

This is what the VTX 500 modem does.

This only has one edge connector thought, the other two fit into the Speccy
and the VTX, which has, in effect, a mirror image male connector built in.
