I still can't connect to any of the servers or any of the rooms using
Opera 10 from my home machine (Mac OS 10.6.2). I've tried all the
servers. All I get is an instant disconnect. Not experiencing any
problems with any other IRC networks.

And verily, didst OwenBot <chev...@gmail.com> hastily babble thusly:

What comes up on screen before the disconnect?

With another client I get:

ERROR Closing Link: [::ffff:93.96.235.195] Z:Lined (Z-lined: Your IP,
93.96.235.195, is in our Open Proxy List. Visit http://rbl.efnetrbl.org/?i=93.96.235.195
for info.)

Ok, forget it. Coldfront are clearly a bunch of jerks. Let me know if
you switch to an IRC host that doesn't ban address ranges just because
they can't be bothered to do a little investigation.

if someone on a dynamic ip is abusing the service a z-line is the only
way to keep them out. Also it's not coldfront who are doing it, they
don't control the block list so you need to get yourself taken off that

That's what am rbl is, it's a spam blackhole, usually used to block e-mail.
Looks like you inherited the IP address of a prolific spammer or something.
Prolly be best to get rid of that IP address ASAP anyway, you might run into
more problems.

Had a word with the operators, they said "have a try now".
Might work, maybe the rbl will still kick in, so maybe a router reset is the
only way.

thanks spike. I'll reset the router to be on the safe side.
