Hello!
Has anyone got a copy of the last issue of your Sinclair?
Has any one got a copy of the First issue as well? (then known as Your
Spectrum)

If any one has a copy of either the first or last issue and you live in
southern England then give me a bell at either:

Not exactly. It was called Your Spectrum for 20 odd issues and then changed
to Your Sinclair Issue 1..........

Changed company when the name changed. Sportscene press dropped YS in
favour of concentrating on the QL (ho, ho) and Future picked up the
mag - and made it far, far, worse...IMHO.

Your _Sinclair_ was first published by Dennis Publishing, it later bought
by Future (IMO only to catch some of the top journos working there at the
time).

Anyway, I thought they only changed their name so they could cover the
QL and other Sinclair stuff.

Future didn't pick up YS when it first became Your Sinclair - Future didn't
exist then! :-D

YS was published by numerous companies over the years, I remember 'Dennis' did
it for quite a while, who else was there.....?

Future were the LAST company to pick YS up (and the company that decided to
close it down, bastards, I've never forgiven them for that..... ST Format is
still going and that only gets the same number of readers as YS was doing at the
end!).

I sure do! Even though I hadn`t used my +2 in a while (it was knackered),
when I saw the last issue in the shop I just had to buy it. It`s really
good too, with the ultimate Chaos battle between the crew described in
full detail. Also with pictures of almost all the former staff and an
excellent poster of two cowboys riding into the sunset, with the line
"Our work here is done." They don`t make mags like that any more :)

Yes, as far I as I remember, that was the reason they gave at the time.
I can remember that, in the first issue as Your Sinclair, they expressed
the hope that they would not be called "Your Sincy" in future. (Since
the mag had affectionately been called "Your Speccy" before that.)

Anyway, they were definitely the best Spectrum magazine around. (Does
anyone remember Switcha, the Spectrum task switcher, or the isometric 3D
sprite routine package?)

I remember the Switcha program. I used it a fair bit at the time. Didn't
Crash put a version on their Tech Tape, that worked when you pressed the
"magic button" on a multiface? Can't remember it's name, but it seemed
like a real rip off when I first saw it.

Well they've still got issues in Smiths here! And Futurenet still runs an ST
Format web page too......

Looking this up, I got the chance to check out my argument (which was 'why did
Your Sinclair close when ST Format is still running but gets less readers').
Now, I checked my last ever issue of YS but there aren't any sales figures in it
so I'm having to work from memory ('cos all my other YS issues are at my
parents' house), but I seem to recall that in one of the later YS issues their
ABC figures for sales were something like 22,000 per month. I checked out ST
Format's figures - 14,378 per month.

Obviously Future can't be making a profit on ST Format (I'd be surprised if
they're breaking even!) so why close Your Sinclair when it was getting more
readers than this? I suggest we all call Future and shout at them until they
restart Your Sinclair...... And then we can all work for it! :-D

I gather that YS could not get the adverts, but PC mags can. You
draw your own conclusions. Also the distribution chains of
Menzies and Smiths are very important. If they stop taking it,
you have had your chips!

It did have something, but this bastard didn't work for the Multiface 128,
which REALLY peeved me, I can tell you....

Your Spectrum originally published by Sportscene Specialist Press. SSP
renamed themselves to Dennis Publishing shortly after changing YS to
Your Sincliar. Future bought YS in 1990.

I got both. Well, I got the first issue of Your Spectrum, and the last
issue of Your Spectrum, plus the first issue of Your Sinclair, *and* the last
issue of Your Sinclair.

Um, which is actually four isn't it?

There can't be many magazines that have had two first and two last issues
can there? Another first for YS!

Outta here.

Yeah. So they could cover the C5. :-)

Maybe Stuart Cambell can shed some light, if he's out there somewhere
reading this NG..?

Oh, all right then. Sorry, I missed the original post, but I don't know
where the "ST Format still alive" idea comes from - ST Format closed months
ago. There's still the Futurenet site, but then there's still an Amiga
Power site as well, so that doesn't get us anywhere.

Fact is, the last issues of YS were selling in the 7,000 area and falling
fast. About three more issues and there would have been more people writing
the mag than reading it. (The Big Final Issue did something really dismal,
less than 2000, I think). Simple as that, I'm afraid.
