Read the FAQ! And, before you ask, the address of where to find the
FAQ can be found in the FAQ.

I expect that someone's going to say "Read the FAQ" (which should now be
at http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/~pak/cssfaq/index.html), but here's two well
known ones:

ftp.void.jump.org/pub/sinclair/ (World of ZX Spectrum FTP Archive)

ftp.nvg.ntnu.no/pub/sinclair/ (NVG Sinclair FTP Archive)
(although NVG's not playing ball at the moment, it can be handy as it's
got some stuff which isn't available on WoS)

The Snapsearch site at http://www.med.cz/snapsearch/ will give you links
to other places, mirrors and so on, in its query results.

Well, I've considered both offering a sensible answer and a silly one,
but I can't really think of anything. So instead I'm going to entertain
you all by introducing my desktop companions. First up, we have The
Unnamed Caterpillar. He has five stripes, and has brightened up not only
my home desk, but my workspace as well.

Next, we have Mr Grumpy. He doesn't talk much, and seems to have mislaid
his bright, shiny metal coat that he wore when we were first introduced.

Then there's Timothy the Echidna. He is perched on my monitor right now,
and while he normally watches me type, he has slept right through all my
computer-related activities today.

Last, but by no means least, we come to the penguins. Bob and Russ don't
always stay by the computer, and right now Russ is off watching
television, but Bob tends to prefer to lean back against a stack of CD
cases and relax to the sounds of whatever MP3 I happen to be playing.

I am certain that this has been of no help to you whatsoever, but it's
made me feel slightly better. Thank you.

Most of them are just freeloaders. Timothy, in particular, is
spectacularly lazy, and generally only wakes up when I open a fresh box
of Toffee Cream Slices. (Much like Jon in that respect.) The penguins
are slightly more helpful, in particular with tidying my desk - removing
used bus tickets and empty chocolate wrappers, that sort of thing.
Usually my bits of YS3 are written in the last couple of days before it
goes online, so things tend to get a bit hectic; this is when the
penguins really earn their keep. While Russ pops out for Coco Pops, and
occasionally writes Future Shocks, Bob always writes the reviews. Their
wings are a bit too short to use the keyboard properly, so they dictate
and I type.

Oh, and Bob and Russ thank you for your interest. Bob wants to ask
roughly when your 48K tune will be done, and Russ would like to say
hello to his Aunt Minnie. I've tried telling him his Aunt Minnie
probably doesn't read Usenet, but he won't listen. Penguins, eh?

Tell Bob the tune is coming along nicely and will hopefully be done by the
end of August. I've done the sample for the beginning and I'm working on
getting the drums just right. Tell Russ if I see his Aunt Minnie I'll pass
the message on!.

Are you having us on / having a laugh? Or are you (as I suspect) seriously unaware of the facts in this case, namely:

1) Andrew (like everyone else in this thread with the exception of you) made his post to it *nearly 12 years ago* -- that's one entire Chinese astrological cycle. [Hence it was probaably the Year of the Brass Monkey in 2000, as it is now -- Ed]

2) He was already aware, back then, of how to get Speccy SNA, Z80 or whatever format files.

3) Even assuming he wasn't, he's had 12 years to find out -- is it at all likely that he remains ignorant after all this time?

In short: You are Homer Simpson and I claim my five donuts. :-)

The *actual* reason you can't access anything is that all those links
are a decade old and long dead you donkey.

For what it's worth, a mirror of the css faq is available on WoS:

A lot of links[2] in the FAQ don't work either, given it was last
updated in 2005.

I think you are using the wrong browser, the best one for you is the one you
will get if you get a concrete mixer and stand in a hole and tip the
contents of the mixer in around you, then wait a few hours. Job done.

Oh, we had some fun back in 2000, didn't we? But I don't think any
thread about coats or Buffy ever made me laugh as much as this one.

By the way, why can't FUSE log on to Micronet? I think I'll have to
