After close to three and a half years working on the site, I've got
Webmaster's Block. Anyone got any suggestions as to what I should focus on
next? At the moment all I can think of are:

* Java games (YS HyperCapers is partly done, but I haven't worked on it this
year...)

* Flash Movies (haven't got enough ideas to make another one of those yet)

* Readers Letters (might be popular, but going through 93 sets of Letters
pages will be bloody boring to scan)

* A full tips archive (would be bloody useful but, again, boring and time
consuming to build)

* Yet more articles

Any other ideas/suggestions? What do you lot think I should concentrate on?

Letters and other articles. Particularly Pssst! and 'complete guide to'
features.

kind of way)" t-shirt logo. (i always wanted that t-shirt...sob)

Already up there, or rather, you view the scans of the series held by WOS via

There should be planty of ideas for flash movies in this newsgroup...
Just use common threads and the foplklore FAQ for inspiration.

Letters would be great for those people who wrote to the magazine.

An archive of doodlebugs, Ernie and KLTS would be kinda cool too.

Pssst isn't a bad idea :)

A more long-term objective might be more cross-links with other sites
perhaps - links to remade versions of games (though with remakes sites
dying/reshuffling/moving this might be a high-maintenence thing) for
instance (not biassed at all am I)...

Coming soon... (but then I ALWAYS say that...)

>An archive of doodlebugs, Ernie and KLTS would be kinda cool too.

Doodlebugs and Ernie are already up there (well, a viewer for the
scans stored on WOS, anyway) - look up the Scans index. KLTS will go
with the Letters.

>Pssst isn't a bad idea :)

To be done after the Letters - now found a scanning technique which
makes this a lot easier to do.

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing something like that for a long
time, it's just the maintenance that's been putting me off - I really
can't be arsed tracking the existence of a whole load of URLs,
especially stuff on places like Geocities and Fortunecity which are
BOUND to be moved/made extinct sooner or later.

When it comes to generating and maintaining the YSRnRY, I like
everything to be done as automatically as possible - it's a very large
site (1,900 pages right now), and having to do manual maintenance for
even a small proportion of those pages is a hassle (this is also why
I'm a little more averse to adding links to my website, preferring to
link to a few big names, and have the FAQ handle the rest). Maybe when
I have more time on my hands...

[Actually, come to think about it, now that I have a shell account
(with the web server) I can somehow automatically monitor if a URL is
unavailable and remove links to it from the YSRnRY... hmmm... food for
thought, but nothing will happen for a while yet]

Your site is really great and I love the flash movies. Especially that Ping
Pong one. However, I have to be careful at work 'cos if I go to your site
without turning the sound down then the tune on the flash movies (Soul
Bossanova iirc?) will suddenly blare out of the speakers, leading to
bemused looks from my colleagues...all rather embarrassing...

Not actually your fault - more of a problem with flash in that you can't
switch off the sound. But, ummm, something to think about anyway.

Ok so I can just turn off the sound in windows but im too lazy and I
*always* forget...

My machine just sits with all sound muted, so I don't get any embarrassing
noises emanating from my PC. Does the job nicely, without having to
remember to switch it off.

Ahh but I like sound - I like it when my PC goes "bing" when a mail arrives

My soundcard doesn't seem to work anymore.
