This is a thread intended to be about the best Spectrum software
company logo...

That is, the best logo used by a Spectrum software company, rather
than the best Spectrum software company's logo... if you see what I
mean!

After thinking long and hard about this hardly-discussed subject (ie:
3 minutes), I believe Imagine's 3D effort to be the greatest ever
logo.

Ocean's was pretty good too, as was the Mastertronic one where it was
MASTERONIC all in caps except for the "i" which was in lower case
italics.

The worst one had to be Alternative Software.

The best one has to be Ultimate. When you saw one of those logos, you
knew you were in for a treat!

I quite like the "Hit Squad" one for some reason. Probably because the only
games I could afford were the Hit Squad rereleases. Saying that, I also
like Mastertronic's grid effort.

(rummages through box of tapes)

Hmmm. Yes. You're probably right there.

You mean Piranha? Not bad, but looked like it belonged in the 50's!

For a software house, I'd say Software Projects, and for an actual
game, erm, probably Elite.

Although Imagine's short lived perspective with the crystal top logo
was also quite cool.

Strangely enough, that was the loading screen for Spectipede...

Hey! Anyone know of any copies of their Judge Death game
kicking around? It looks like they got pretty far before
it was scrapped...

Ahem. Whatever.

My shortlist:

Starlight Software
Elite
Electric Dreams
The Edge
Rebound (Hewson)
Vortex
Ocean (midnight blue variant a la Op Wolf)

Discuss.

Worst:

Atlantis - just the word. Add an 'h' and jiggle the letters around for: anal
shitt
Activision ('new' style) - implied some kind of panache and maturity
US Gold - made to look like some badge of distinction, as if the name alone
was worthy of your cash
Nexus - looked like any neon light does in daylight: shite
Hewson (old style) - an 'H' through binoculars? No ta.

Discuss.
