What does this have to do with the SGI platform?

Because some SGI users also use Dec, PCs as well.

Some SGI users eat chocolate bars -- should we allow all the chocolate
bar manufacturers to advertise in comp.sys.sgi.marketplace ? All the
chip (crisps for those in the UK), soft drink, coffee beer vendors too?
The engine oil, whitewall tire, and muffler retailers in case someone
wants to drive over to use their SGI machine? The florists used to
make amends to all the neglected Significant Others ? Is there
anything that an SGI user definitely would NOT use such that
your reasoning would deduce could legitimately be blocked from
comp.sys.sgi.marketplace ?

You know, it IS annoying to see other things posted in these groups(such as
PCs and the like). However, the thing that bothers me most is hearing
people like you whine on and on about "your" newsgroup.

It makes me sick to my stomach to see diversity thrown down. Even if I hate
PC's.

P.S. - Next time, try a kind note directing the person to the proper
newsgroup.

Looks to me like the charter was voted in without problem:

|Newsgroups: comp.sys.sgi.marketplace
|Subject: cmsg newgroup comp.sys.sgi.marketplace
|Message-ID: <8271630...@uunet.uu.net>
|Date: Mon, 18 Mar 1996 15:30:06 GMT
|
|comp.sys.sgi.marketplace is an unmoderated newsgroup which passed its vote for
|creation by 144:22 as reported in news.announce.newgroups on 13 Mar 1996.
|
|For your newsgroups file:
|comp.sys.sgi.marketplace SGI-specific for sale, wanted and jobs.
|
|The charter, culled from the vote result announcement:
|
|Comp.sys.sgi.marketplace is an unmoderated group for "for sale",
|"wanted to buy", and "jobs offered/sought" postings specific to Silicon
|Graphics computers. Commercial and/or continuing advertising, and postings
|about non-SGI-specific equipment, services and jobs, are not welcome.

You may, if you wish, attempt to start a new newsgroup to carry the
same sort of messages together with whatever "diverse" messages you see
fit to deliniate. If you can get enough votes through for it (following
proper creation procedures) then it will be created. Or you could
attempted to amend the charter of this newsgroup (which requires just
as much effort.) Or you could just go ahead and open
alt.comp.sys.sgi.marketplace.spam-ok and see how useful people find
it. That's diversity in the electronic age: if you don't like what's
there, create your own space to prosper or whither on its own merits.

I expect to see only SGI pertinant posts at these pages.
As regard the kind notes, I usually do send them.
