Howdy,

There appears to be a new scam in this marketplace called "SGI Systems"
or currently http://www.sgisystems.com.
They claim to be based in Moscow, and claim to have a US office in
Livingston MT at:

SGI Systems Inc.
4553, 2nd Street
Livingston,MONTANA
USA
Phone: 1-800-461-9841

Because they looked suspicious, I checked with the Livingston Chamber of
Commerce(406-222-0850), and they had no "SGI Systems" registered. They
also said that 2nd street doesn't go past the 500's, and is always
"North 2nd Street" or "South 2nd Street". The phone company did not
have a phone number for them. They will not provide any serial numbers,
or personal information like "Who is on the other end of
sa...@sgisystems.com?"
There are many other suspicious things about their site including
Indigo2 R4400s over $1000 more than the R10K Indigo2s. Everything is
supposedly "fully new". They do e-commerce through ccnow.com, and I
would suspect that all of their money gets wired to their Moscow
account.

This is another one like "Radial Technologies", and "Americom Company".
You have been warned.

Let's watch them answer my email...it follows. I love asking questions like
that second one..especially when north or south are the only options...I'll
post their reply when I get it.

My email:

Who can I ask for when I stop by your office tomorrow? BTW, are you on East

More interesting thought is... I'm very very surprised that SGI
*didn't* register the damn thing.... might be worth flagging this one
to SGI and seeing if they call it URL squatting...

No such street in Edmonds. 903 is a Texas area code. fnworld.com is
in Buffalo, NY.

Actually, the page is still available, but the URL has been split. Just
make sure that the item number is 455120354.

I don't think they'll be using Ebay as a place to run their scams any more.
I just emailed Safe Harbor @ ebay and informed them of their sudden change
of address that is amazingly coincidental to me asking how I arrive at their
bogus address in VT or where ever it was 2 weeks ago. I wonder if their
1-800 number works..:)

today (4 oct) I checked their website..... a completely new address,:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SGI Systems Inc., 53 S 10th Street, Livingston,MONTANA, USA

Phone: 1-800-461-9841

same phone no, I wonder if there is any such address now ( or will it
turn out to be a deli / chinese laundry.... )

eBay still has the Origin200 listed ( Item #455120354 ) with the
location MN , so far no poor sucker seems to have bid for it.

the saga continues.

Email sa...@sgisystems.com and ask for directions to their store. Say
something to the effect of "once I get off Interstate 23, what roads do I
need to take to get to your location?"

I simply asked for directions(no reference at that time to I-23) yesterday
and was given(quoting)
***
"hi,

I'm sorry, I do not understand you.... on taxi for example."
***

ON TAXI FOR EXAMPLE??? WTF does that mean? I can't wait till they tell me
what I'm supposed to do once I get off I-23...gonna be a hoot. Of course,
ebay has already discontinued the use of their account so they're gonna love
paying the bill for that $4000 bid they started off with...:)

So does anyone know if SGI has started looking to shut them down for
cybersquatting or trademark infringement? Merely having the "SGI" in their
name and selling the same computers is enough to warrant this. I remember a
place called "IDHEA Seminars" that had to remove the "H" because they were
giving "DHE" training which was trademarked by a Richard Bandler(a cool
fellow, you might check him out). So it's something for them to think about.

Dammit...no wonder I couldn't find them when I visited....first they move
from Vermont to Minnesota and then to Montana and then they move 8 streets
over and a lot closer to town...heh. I'm surprised they have the resources
to scam people out of their money with all that moving...:)
