I'am starting my Iris Indigo Elan 4000 and the first thing that appears
is an error message
Initializing tod clock.
Setting secs=0 min=0 hour=0 day=1 month=1 year=0
Can't set tod clock.
This message is repeated continously on the screen. When I hit the reset
button, Running Power-on Diagnostics... is started, but after 30 seconds
the error message reappears. This machine is working perfectly over the
years. I don't know what went wrong? I can't interrupt this process or
adjust some settings.
Can someone get me a helping hand.
Kind regards

well, the tod battery is dead.
It happens that way with batteries. My Indigo had the same problem. The
solution is to put in a new battery..
the battery is located under the R4k processor module. Since it is soldered
in place, you can heat up your soldering iron before opening the Indigo. You
just unsolder the old battery and solder a new one in (or maybe a battery
clip, but the new one will probably last for a while).
I went to Display Electronics (all through Holland) and paid f27,50 for a
new battery.
good luck,
Michiel

Sorry man, this is a hardware failure. You need a new motherboard, or
theoretically a tod clock if you can get one. Unforthunately this
was never sold as an individual component. =(

Hrm, I would not have thought of this. Good show! I suppose one really can't
think in terms of supported solutions when dealing with older machines.
Good show, Sorry for my previous post. =)

Your right!, I replaced the battery and the good old Irix is back.
Thanx for your support.
Cheers
