DM8 Audio on Fuel

I have a Fuel with the DM8 audio card:

AudioPanel does not let me control the volume for Analog In. Is this
normal for these cards?
Also, it does not seem to want to take input from the microphone. I can
switch the input source to Microphone, but it still takes the audio from
line in.
Seems very strange to me. Looking at the output from audiopanel -print
suggests that the card does not have a facility to adjust the input level:

Am I missing something obvious here, or rae these cards somewhat less
flexible than what is offered on the Octane?
