Firstly, I tried to add this printer using menu :-(, but it complains with
the error: Unable to proceed since the LP print service is not running
which is untrue if it means lpsched (which lpadmin shouldn't need).

Secondly, when added by hand, using the same interface (model), cables and
everything else as other HP LaserJets, the printer keeps stopping after a few
pages, and then keeps requeueing with the following:

printer lwsa2 waiting for auto-retry. available.
stopped with printer fault
lwsa2-212770 root 27831 Sep 30 08:16

The printer is showing no fault and the form feed light stays on with a
further portion of the queued file in it's memory. If I print a file less
than a page, all queues/prints/cleans up fine.

I put a set -x in the interface script, and it mailed back that it trapped
with the follwing:

Your request lwsa2-212784 destined for lwsa2
encountered an error while printing on printer lwsa2.
Printing stopped with an exit code of 129.

Reason for failure:

+ trap exit 15
+ trap catch_hangup; exit_code=129 exit 129 1
+ trap catch_interrupt; exit_code=129 exit 129 2 3
+ exec

I can't find these errors documented. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.
