I once owned a 1980's Pyramid computer, I kept it in my basement
office and during the winter I would fire it up as a form of
heating, backup storage and run interesting programs on cron.
(The Pyramid consumed about 4KW of energy, about he same as 4
bar heater)

Well I got a job in Singapore and so I rented the house out (via
an agent). Then one day, after some tenants I moved out I decided
to eyeball the house myself. Well the "tenants" had stolen all the
curtains, on leaving had replaced all the light bulbs with blown
light bulbs, kitchen was a cesspit, several windows were broken,
their dog had soiled the entire carpet (had to be replaced).
AND... my Pyramid 98xe with OSx "super-mini" was gone from the
locked room under the staircase (complete with all 1GB + 1GB +
2GB Disks, Dual 7 MHz CPU's together with 128Mb of RAM). Sigh!
The tenants had kept the operation manuals though!!! The Pyramid
must have weighed 200kg and they somehow managed to get it out
the door and down to the city dump.
I sometimes ponder the gold (Au) value of that computer, maybe
it didn't have any.
Sigh - lucky the Pyramid was not a Rembrandt - time for a coffee.
Gosh this 1.8GHz Dual Core 3Gb RAM Laptop is swell. :-)
It would have made a great "drink cabinet".
