Position Overview
Scope of Position
The position of Handset Software Developer reports to the Manager of
Product Development. You will participate in the development of the
mobile client software components You'll work closely with the Mobile
Technical Lead and the other handset developers within the Client Team
in Product Development.
Key Deliverables
Key deliverables for this position are as follows:
· Participate in development of key software components for the
mobile client
· Provide work estimates for the software development effort
· Perform detailed design and ensure the software will work on
multiple platforms
· Implement, unit test, and document the software
· Ensure that the software meets feature specifications
· Work within, and recommend improvements to, the software
development processes
· Identify and resolve bugs
Key Skills
The successful candidate must have these key skills:
· 4+ years of development experience on handheld devices
· 3+ years of C++ development on Symbian based devices
· Either device driver development or device control experience
(e.g.
NDIS, 802.11, Bluetooth)
· A strong understanding of, and experience with software
development
on Symbian platforms
· Experience with multi-threaded development, network programming
using sockets
· Experience building commercial software products
· Strong written and oral communications skills
Experience and Education
Required industry experience and qualifications are as follows:
· University degree in Computer Science
· 5+ years of industry experience in software development
· Experience working in a fast paced environment and on
commercial
software products
Beneficial industry experience and/or qualifications include:
· Strong understanding of and experience with SIP-based VOIP
extremely beneficial
· Understanding of, and experience with, cellular technologies
and
network elements
· Embedded Visual C++ development on Windows CE devices
· Understanding of IP, Mobile IP, 802.11, 3G networks, SMS/MMS,
USSD
· Object Oriented design experience using object modeling / CASE
tools and UM
