Hi guys, I've spent the last few days trying to find a way to make my
laptop which runs Windows XP Home, connect to a used Psion S5 which I
just bought.
Maybe if you are having smilar problems, this will help.
The Psion I bought came with Psiwin 2 which did not recognise XP but I
didn't know that when I installed it. The problem came when I
uninstalled it and then tried to install Psiwin 2.3.3 which I had
downloaded.
I kept getting the message during the install process that I still had
Psiwin 2 components on my PC and that I should remove them using
Add/Remove in Control Panel. I'd already done that so there was no
instance of anything relating to Psion in the Add/Remove section.
Bummer.
To cut a long story short, what I did was this.
I re-installed the Psiwin 2 software and then clicked on uninstall
from the Add/Remove > Control Panel but when a box popped up about
removing particular files, I only deleted the ones with "psion" in the
extension. In other words, I left intact the ones with "System" in the
extension.
This removed every scrap of Psion related stuff from my PC including
the little icon of a Psion from my desktop.
After that, It was just a case of installing Psiwin 2.3.3 and that was
that.
There were a couple of error reports during the installation but I
just pressed the "Continue" button and now it all works perfectly.

I run WinXP Pro and have no problems with my Psion, Palm or Ipaq syncing.
Must be lucky!!

See also Mike McConnell's hugely useful website for Psion users:
http://home.clara.net/m-mcconnell/Series5_frame2.htm and download Reg Cleaner
(bottom of the page). Alan++

I'm using 2.3, I had no problems getting it to sync using Outlook XP. In
fact I've had fewer problems with it than I ever did with 98!!!!

I actually have the syncing software for Psion, Pocket PC & Palm all on my
PC. I use a three way switch box to decide which machine I want to sync
then just run the connection software for that machine. All works fine.

Ahhhh, I see you were already using a different Psiwin version. The
problem a lot of people have is in updating from Psiwin 2. to psiwin
2.3.3
