In the official PSION S5 specifications page
(http://www.psion.com/series5/s5spec.html)you can read:
"Communications:
IrDA-compliant Infrared allowing short range (up to one metre) printing and
transfer of information (single entries or whole files) wirelessly from a
Psion to a suitable printer, a PC or another Psion Series 5.
"

Now, I find that there is no way to connect S5 to PC with infrared port.
Why?

I think that you may have been given bad information. I can connect my
series 5 to psiwin that way.

My friend also uses IR to run PsiWIn (though he says it is a bit
intermittent). Personnally I have never had any success with this, but that
is probably due to some obscure IRQ conflict or Registry setting on my PC
:-(

I'm huppy, but you can just sand and recive files of you can connect with
PsiWin and sincronize, bukuping, etc.
And than, what driver do you use for win 95. I've the 3.0 realize driver but
I can't connect.
I esplain: the win 95 ir port is able to "see" the Psion ir port, but when I
try to connect PC to Psion the connection doesn't succeed (even if the ir
ports are still looking themselves). Thecnical note: in the options
connection I use only infrared port.

I have the same problem. I downloaded and installed IrDa 2.0 from the
Microsoft website.
When I turn on InfraRed on my Psion and put it next to my laptop,
Windows gives a sound and when I doubleclick the Infrared icon in the
taskbar, I get a Window saying it's connected to a "Psion Series 5".

But I can't get PsiWin 2.1 to work with infrared. I tried PsiWin to
use Com3 (which is the infrared simulated as comport) and I tried
PsiWin to use 'Infrared' but both don't work.

Any ideas?

Set the psion in range.

Make sure that psiwin is connected to infrared and only infrared.

Put the speed on 115200, NOT maximum obtainable.

Make sure that psiwin is "looking" in other words, not on standby.

THEN turn on the IR on the psion.

You have to do it in this order for some unknown reason. You might have to
try it a couple of times (turn if off and on again) but it should work.
Does for me.
