How about splitting this NG into 3 new ones :
comp.sys.psion.misc.general - for news e.t.c
comp.sys.psion.misc.s3 - for s3,s3a,s3c + s3mx
comp.sys.psion.misc.s5 - for s5,s5mx
comp.sys.psion.misc.flame - for our dear friend Eddie slupski

Well maybe not the last one !, but if it was split it would make getting
help + info easier for the different platforms, so if enough of us make it
known this is a good idea then maybe it will happen.

Surely we should strat the Eddie Slupsky supporters club Newgroup? What
should it be called?

There would in reality only need to be one or two, at most, new groups.
The existing comp.sys.psion.misc would serve the purpose of the general
group you proposed. However since the 3 series is now starting to move
out of the main stream of Psion use, and it's often only by working
through a majority of postings biased towards the s5/5mx that a relevant
s3 can be found, it might now be a prudent time to consider a group just
for the series 3. To further split into a s5 based based group might be
too much and again render the misc group redundant.

The .misc group is vibrant, active and mostly relevant but by removing
the 3 series posts to their own group would do little to harm the misc
group, not inconveniance the majority of posters, and not add
unnecessary redundancy to the news system.

As for the Slupski group there are already plenty of flame, spamming and
"discussion" groups available for that type of poster when they feel the
need to post garbage.

As I suggested in another thread, it is about time we move away from using
"psion" to equate to "epoc" in terms of Psion5. This will at worst alienate,
and alternatively confuse, owners of Ericsson MC218s and the Osaris
machines. The best practical suggestion I've seen is that we merely
replicate the current hierarcy from comp.sys.psion.* to comp.sys.epoc.*, and
that we encourage all the series5 stuff to go there - so that
comp.sys.psion.* is left with the SIBO material. This may not be perfect in
anybody's eyes, but it will be the simplest to arrange.

No.

Why? As someone else said, many old s3 users have now bought s5's so
they would be reading the misc.s5 newsgroups. So when someone posts to
misc.s3, loads of experienced s3 users will be reading misc.s5 and not
answer the message.

Did that make sense?

Adam
