Okay,
seeing as I build PC's for a living I would have though I'd have been able
to sort this. I was copying some files to my 5 when the link died. I though
this was a bit weird so tried to re-connect, no luck, thinking Psi-Win 2.3
was at fault I restarted (did this several times), then uninstalled 2.3 and
installed 2.1, no luck got an Internal error 1071 (i think) error.
Re-Installed 2.3 again no luck. Tested the Psion serial port was okay with
my GS18, did same with PC. Both fine. In an act of desperation tried my
other com port with an adaptor (25pin - 9pin), worked fine first time off.
Tried the other port and no go again. Tried pretty much everything short of
re-installing windows, which I can;t be bothered to do until the weekend, if
its neccesary. Using 25pin serial port wouldn't be too bad but my FM Radio
module uses it, so when I'm backing up I can;t listen to the radio. Any
ideas out there as I can't figure it out.

I have a similar problem. I usualy back up my Psion at the office, and did
so the day before christmas. Tried again today, nothing worked. Re-installed
PsiWin, still nothing. My first guess was that PsiWin 2.1 is not Y2k
compliant. All good suggestions are wellcome.

Yeh, but I'm using Psi-Win 2.3, I tried 2.1 on the off chance that that
would work instead

I've PsiWin 2.1 running under WinNT 4. Before New Year the communication
between my PC and Psion 5 worked well, but now my system behaves as
follows:
* Starting the PsiWin Server is OK.
* The "sinus wave icon" on the task bar appears and is living
* After some seconds it stops
Trying to get into connection with the Psion fails, sometimes the short
time a connection has been established (living icon) seems to be
sufficient for transfer of the directory of Psion.
I tried the service release 1 for PsiWin 2.1, but with the same result.
The comm ports on the PC and Psion are OK (tested!)
WHO CAN HELP ?

I finally solved my problem, but I'm almost too embarassed to tell...

In the configuration screen of my psion, I saw that the communications link
was turned off. Despite this, the psion still switched on atuomatically when
connected to the PC. Now, everything works just fine with psiwin 2.1.

I am having the same problem, only with Win98 and Psiwin 2.1. I cannot
connect at all, even though I am sure that my serial port is fine (I can
connect to Psion via Hyperterminal).

I wish that I could help, but for now I am just one frustrated Psion
user.
