I am new to Psion but very impressed by the Revo.
I have seen some reviews talking about missing OPL editor.

What is OPL editor and how the missing affect me??

And is there any Java support for Revo?
I want to have a Java VM on Revo and do some simple programming on the
Revo. Is it possible? If not, how about writing C/C++ program on Revo and
get compiled on the machine withour connect to PC??

Thanks

The OPL editor is the environment in which you can create EPOC programs - think
of it as the eqivalent (albeit cut-down) of Borland for Win. It will only affect
you if you want to create programs yourself, but luckily there are alternatives:
OPL+ (www.twiddlebit.com, shareware) is basically the 5mx OPL "Program" editor
with extras. I use it (and will register, honest!) and found it to do what I
need.
If you're planning on writing a fair amount, then perhaps a better alternative
would be to download the Psion emulator (available at PSION's main site) for the
PC; develop the programs on the PC and then transfer for testing onto the PSION
via PSIWin.

As for Java, it's on the PSIWin2 CD that you get with the Revo, but I haven't
tried it. However, I don't know if a compiler is available for doing programming
actually on the Revo - remember that it would be pretty big: far to big to fit
into the smaller memory space of the Revo

OPL and Java is answered, now for C and C++

It is not possibe to compile them on Revo at the moment, maybe when the
dosemulator is ported to revo and then you can get a small dos compiler to
run in the emulator :)

OPL is the Psion's own basic-like programming language. There is a
shareware OPL+ available on the web.

You can install Java VM on the Revo, but there won't be much memory left
after (Revo is only 8 megs, unexpandable).

Psion doesn't support Java on the Revo (you have to tell the install
program you have a 5mx in order to install Java VM).

I can't answer anything about C though.

If you want to program Java on the Psion, the 5mx is a better bet...the
Revo is more for those who need a pocket Psion.
