Just flip open the cover for the backup battery, and put a pen/pencil
in the little hole to the right :)

Per Psion Service US:

The best way to do a "hard" reset is to remove the main and back up batteries
for a few minutes then replace. (A complete backup should be done before
reseting this way to avoid the loss of all of the data on the C: drive).

I'm sitting here wondering the same. I can see that the batteries can be
pulled out or the hard reset button can be pushed but page 188 of the user
guide does not tell me if it will go back to factory settings with the full
operating system intact. I have played with the system quite a lot and
deleted quite a few files without realising that there is no 'Recycle Bin'.

So if anyone has done a hard reset before, can they confirm that it will
give back factory settings with operating system intact...please.

It will restore your software complete as it was when you took it out of the
box.

This is true, as far as I know, of all handhelds curreently produced.

Hi,

Palmtops Rule of Thumbs 1 :

If you keep you batteries (main and backup) in your HPC and press the
reset button : You will reboot the system, as in booting your Desktop.
You may have to do this in case one software hangs the palmtops or for
anyother reason : I do it once a day with my WindowsCE et maybe once a
week with the Psion with reboot.opo

(No thread about WinCE vs Psion here, I use the Psion for dev, and the
WinCE for my schedule...)

If you DON'T keep the batteries in, and press reset. And then reinsert
the batteries... you will be back to Factory Settings... It's like
formatting your PC *smile*

In general... No guarantes, no warranties, do it at your own risk.
