There hasn't been any activity on this group for a while, just figured
I'd see if there were still any other Prime hobbyists still out there.
Or am I the only one silly enough to enjoy getting Prime gear working
again?

In article <3fab3c42-e7ca-462f...@f6g2000yqa.googlegroups.com>,

I would love to play around with Primos (and Primix) again but at
this point there is no free emulator available that I am aware of
and no legal way to run any Pprime OS as a hobbyist. Maybe someday.

Glad to see that there do seem to be others that read this group! As
for a lack of an emulator... I know that a Prime emulator was written,
and that a hobbyist version is available. I have not had cause to play
with it, however, since I have the original hardware (and lots of
it!). Nothing like a computer that dims the lights when turned on. :)

Speaking of which, I really need to get around to installing a 220v
line in the basement. I can wire up my 6650 to run on 220v, but I
don't know if I'll have enough current available to run it...

my random comment is I'd love to get a 5340 chassis.

I'm lurking, waiting hopefully for Jim's hobbyist version of the
PRIMOS emulator to become generally available, with the necessary
patches/Y2K fixes so that DSM works.

Well it's good to see some people still around!

I would not be considered a hobbyist. We actively support
several Prime sites. Yes we have paying customers running
PRIMOS. And we still do their hardware and software support.

I'm regularly surprised to hear from someone whose business
is still 50-series based! Yet we do hear from new customers
(new to us, they've been there all along) now and then. And
we keep enough hardware on hand to keep them running.

Although the prices we pay to store equipment in 4 different
locations add up!

Anyway, we'll keep storing the parts until the last customer
is gone and we don't see that happening anytime soon.
