Hi
Anyone use the ASF Palmtop Computer Light that is advertised in the
Palmtop Paper for $30?
Looking for opinions.
Regards

I picked it up at MacWorld Expo for $25. It works, but it's not a
perfect design for any hand-held (mine's a 200LX). One still has to put
velcro onto places one would rather not and it's a pain to hold in the
hand with the light. It seems to work best when sitting on a desktop
such as an airplane's food tray. Given this, why buy a "special" light?

A MUCH MUCH better design solution is to go buy the Little Bity Book
Light. I think that's what they called it. You can find it at Barnes
and Noble. It keeps the batteries in a separate container and uses a
cable to the plastic light fixture. The fixture is MUCH lighter, uses a
better bulb, is more adjustable and provides substantially more flat
area upon which one can stick velcro.
One can also buy that flashlight with the flexible neck that wraps
around the case. I remember seeing it at the Sharper Image. It too
provides plenty of area for velcro, lots more flexibility, substantially
lighter and inexpensive.

Didn't I just post this info????? hmmmm....

I also sawa the ASF add.. What I'm wondering, would a small 'book
light' work? I'm using a Poqet. I've seen them sold for under $10, so,
financially it's appealing, but will it work? Anyone tried?

See no reason why booklight wouldn't work just as well.
Saw picture of palmtop light and really saw no difference.
I've used "Itty bitty booklight for about 6 mos for reading in all
sorts of places. It has a battery pack and an AC adaptor. It also
uses a clip on the light source.
There are others that I've seen which are about half the price of the
booklight above, but are less versatile.

These can be found in any Walden's or Dalton's bookstores.

Keep on palming :-)
