If you can find the odd-ball frequency, miniature crystal somewhere else,
you can get the necessary drivers off Compserve...maybe even eddie. I
think the guy selling them had a custom run made, which took a good chunk
of change upfront. The kit is the 2x crystal (double whatever the
current freq is, ie the new xtal is about 31 MHz) a couple of passive
parts to clean up the clock coupling, a disk with the necessary software
to make the palmtop work after the upgrade, directions and a Torx T6 bit
to open the HP. $50 didn't seem unreasonable to me.
My sample of 1 :-) still works fine - just faster. Voids the warranty
though.
Flash card/SRAM card access won't be any faster, but CPU intensive stuff
(123 recalcs, running macros, etc) are much faster.
Cheers,
Bob
Here's a question someone might be able to answer. Does the clock speed
up affect compression software preformance (Stacker or Jam). I know the
biggest limitation is the speed of Flash memory but was just curious if
anyone noticed a difference?
rhyanna :)
I just checked with EduCalc and they carry it at $34.95 + $6.95 S/H.
