[apologies for posting in the Oric group, it's the closest one I can
find for the purpose of discussion Tangerine's "Microtan 65"]
Has anyone built a hardware replica of the Microtan 65 using CMOS 6502
and 7400-series parts?
I'm considering it, but need to figure out how may revisions of
Microtan 65 schematics there are. There were apparently two revisions
of the CPU board.
The Microtan is attractive because it has a low chip count, expansion
bus, onboard Video, and use of through-hole parts, The only thing
missing seems to be an available PC Board.
The layout I find at
http://www.microtan.ukpc.net/MT65iss0.JPG shows
what appears to be a RF modulator in positions A1, B1, A2, and B2.
The user manual at
www.microtan.UKPC.net seems adequate for the
knowledgeable kit builder, though I'd prefer a step-by-step guide
including testing voltages at critical points.
The chips labeled "blue spot" and "white spot" I assume are the boot
PROMS.
I suppose I could use an ATMEGA or Propeller chip to do the video
generation... and get some more flexibility for things like using a PS/
2 keyboard instead of an ASCII keyboard.
