JOIN INDUSTRY LEADERS FOR OPENSTEP DAY AT OBJECT WORLD, SAN FRANCISCO

OpenStep(tm) Day at Object World San Francisco is your opportunity
to get up-to-the-minute details on OpenStep, the premier object
technology solution for client/server corporate computing. OpenStep,
developed by NeXT (tm) Computer and adopted by industry leaders,
including Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard , and Digital
Equipment, is the object-oriented, operating-system independent
framework for cross-platform, rapid-application development. Don't
miss this premier event to learn how to put OpenStep to work for
your organization today.

THREE TRACKS TO CHOOSE FROM

In addition to Steve Jobs' keynote address and the plenary sessions,
OpenStep Day offers attendees three concurrent tracks: an executive
track for executives and managers, and two technical tracks, one
for the new developer and one the advanced developer. More than 15
sessions are presented by senior technical staff members from NeXT
as well as senior managers from leading-edge organizations such as
Chrysler Financial, Fannie Mae and MCI.

* Executive Forum for CIOs, vice presidents, and IS managers to
learn how object technology can help meet today's business challenges.

* Introduction to Object Development for programmers, developers,
and managers who are new to NEXTSTEP(tm).

* Advanced Object Development for programmers, developers, and
managers who have some experience working with NEXTSTEP.

WHY OBJECTS? WHY OPENSTEP?

Users of object technology at FORTUNE 1000 organizations say there's
no better way to improve performance, cut costs, boost profits and
build competitive advantage. OpenStep, the emerging object standard
for three-tier client/server systems, dramatically reduces the time
and expense for developing and deploying mission-critical business
applications.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Designed for IT executives, corporate and commercial software
developers, IS directors, system integrators, and VARs, OpenStep
Day is the place to discover why so many organizations are making
the move to objects. Managers and technologists considering object
technology should attend OpenStep Day to learn more about today's
latest issues, including rapid application development, cross-platform
development, interoperability with legacy systems, relational
database connectivity, scalable system deployment, and much more.
Whether you're new to objects or just want to learn more about
today's hottest technology, OpenStep Day is the prerequisite to
this year's Object World San Francisco, where you will also find
dozens of sessions given by the foremost object technologists in
the industry.

objects across applications in the first year of development. Booz,
Allen & Hamilton's study of NEXTSTEP development showed that
developers could attain a five to ten times productivity increase,an
experience confirmed by integrators and customers worldwide. Learn
how NeXT technology encourages reuse and how organizations have
built teams to best leverage and reuse technology.

Mike Adelson
Manager of Objects, Data and Technology, Chrysler Financial Corp.
Adelson led a team that developed and deployed a suite of client/server
NEXTSTEP applications to more than 100 locations with 2500 users
throughout North America. The team is currently setting direction

OpenStep for Unix

This session focuses on the OpenStep API and on conversion tools
built by NeXT to allow existing applications to achieve OpenStep
compliance. Most large organizations today run mixed computing
environments that include a variety of operating systems. OpenStep
bridges the gap between Windows and Unix by providing common APIs
to achieve cross-platform portability regardless of the underlying
operating system or hardware platform.

Trey Matteson

networks. Marcum has also published numerous articles about NEXTSTEP
network and system administration, and he has taught training
classes, including Advanced NetInfo. He holds advanced degrees in
electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.

Lifecycle Testing for OpenStep Applications

Even with the radical advances in object oriented development,
testing is often left to the end of the process where benefits are
not as great as if it had been an integral part of the development
cycle. This session discusses where testing fits in the object-oriented
software lifecycle, from analysis through maintenance. Included is
a demonstration of systems for both GUI-based and object-level
testing to perform rigorous, repeatable testing on OpenStep
applications.
