"WARNING: Windows has become unstable ...." (The cargo bay doors lock open).
NASA monitors a radio transmission from the pilot to Earth and
hears: "Hi, I'm Betty Blond on the Microsoft product support line. If
you're waiting for Windows for Workgroup support, there are currently 40
people on hold with the longest wait of 3 hours, 46 minutes and 10 seconds.
(The oxygen system suddenly quiets). While you're on hold please take a
moment to look at the manuals supplied with your software and the on-line help
clogging your hard drive ... (the temperature starts climbing steeply and
the interior temperature monitor alarm display panel says "TEMPATUR caused
a General Protection Fault in module ...") ... for a possible solution.
And now, a great classic from David Bowie, 'Major Tom.". (the pilot is
overheard mumbling "Hail Mary, full of grace ...").
NASA immediately instructs the co-pilot to activate the emergency
control system. He obeys and watches the message "An error has occurred in
your application. If you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new
file..." appear on his screen.
All is lost ...
