I just got a 3Com Megahertz Model 3CXE589ET card for my Newton 2x00's. The
FAQ I read on http://www.splorp.com/newton/faq/newton-faq-hardware.html#IIB2c
states that the card can be used with the proper drivers. I've searched
3Com's site and found no Newton drivers at all. I've started looking all
over UNNA.org but nothing yet. Does anyone have the driver or know where I
could find it?

Thanks

Okay, I'm an idiot. Say it with me, ID10T! I found it. The link was right
there staring me in the face. Grrrrr.

I spoke too soon. I downloaded and installed the driver, along with the
appropriate NIE packages. Now, when I insert the card, I get a -61001 error.
I've tried both a soft reset and a deep reset. Both times, I've checked the
settings. I keep getting the -61001 error. According to a NewtonOS error
database, the -61001 error is "eLANTERN_DriverNotFound". Any ideas? I've no
other computer to check the card in unfortunately.

What update version of the ROM are you running? Check extras-->memory
info to find out. You want ROM version 2.1 (717260)-1 or (710031)-1

However, did you try the card anyway (in spite of the error)? I
believe it should work.

I deleted the drivers and then reloaded them. I then did a soft reset of
them Newton and then it worked! My ROM is up to date. Thanks for the
suggestions. Happy Newtoning! :-)

I found when I was doing the ethernet card that the drivers needed to be
loaded in a specific order.
