Hi,

I have a Newton MP 120 runnin 1.3 and today got a 2Mb flash card.

I suceeded in backing up the NEwton onto the card, but after trying to
reverse this, and put the contents of the card back onto the Newton, I
lost all of my data - except the basic Newton Interface.

Fortunately, I backed up my Newton with Norton Connection, so I was
able to reinstall the rest.

Can anyone tell me, please, why the card failed to restore the
contents?

It just starts the backup, then after 20 seconds or so stops and gives
an error reading

I was also expecting to find that the Newton would be able to read the
contents of the card - like a zip disk etc - but it seems that this is
not the case.

So far, after sending back to the Apple centre, the case, battery
holder and printing pack - which cost £40 and only had a PC cable and
an open Mac floppy in it - it works out that with shipping, this flash
card has cost me nearly $100 (£65).

Does anyone know a decent Newton leather case supplier in the UK?,
please.

Also, in the box that my Newton came in it says that it has 2Mb of
memory in the Newton - but the total capacity seems to be around 1.3Mb
- is this normal?

Also, I bought a leather case for my Newton - only to be disappointed
that it would not fit into it - it was not long enough and had a kind
of spike in the back of it - what kind of case is this, does anyone
know?

I am failing to see how the Newton is cool - it can't read flash
cards, can't be backed up by them - and yet they cost a fortune -
please help me - I want to get this right and enjoy this Newton.

Best Wishes,

Josie Farmer
