Keeps putting "6" in Area Code

I've a Newton Message Pad 2100 (not the one in the other post, but an
original). It keeps putting a "6" in the Area Code field when I create a new
Person in Names. I can scrub out the "6" and close the window. When I open
it again, voila, there it is. The "6" is back! This only happens if I do
not enter anything in the field. Any area code entered stays the same.

Nope! I looked in Owner info, and both Work Sites. I have 706 entered in
all of them. That was the first thing I thought of. It has never done this
before. I am VERY confused.
