The Following was sent to me; I cannot verify.
----------------------------------------------

"Speaking of Apple, those wacky kids in Cupertino decided to add a
cute little Easter egg to the Newton 2.0 OS. Programmers tossed in a
reference to 'Area 51' -- a U.S. military installation reported to be
a warehouse for rusting UFOs -- in Netwon's Time Zones application.

When Apple sent its Newtons out for beta testing, one user, a CIA
cryptographer, went nuts because Area 51 was listed at the correct
longitude and latitude. Terrified by the prospect of thousands of
Newton users showing up at its UFO party, the CIA got tough with
Apple and eventually the company pulled the reference. (A Cringe mug
to anyone who can tell me how to recover the Area 51 Easter egg.)"

Go to the Extras drawer, then go to Storage. Open up storage for Time
Zone, and hit the delete key.

Now you can go to the Time Zone application, and tap near Nevada. You'll
see Area 51 as a location. Tap on it.

Now go to appointments, and youll get an Easter egg... look at the icons
next to your To-do's, appointments, etc.!

(When do I get my Cringe mug... for that matter, what the hell IS a Cringe
mug????)

Bob Cringely writes a column on the back page of InfoWorld. Similar in
its tone, secrecy & industry rumors to MacWeek's "Mac the Knife".

Since he didn't word it as "a Cringe mug to first person who...", maybe
there will be more than 1 awarded?

I reported the egg to him awhile back, but haven't heard anything. His
last column implied that he and Pammy were off to Ecuador...

Too late, somebody's already got the mug. Cringe's full report on Area 51 is at:
