Difference between mail and mailx.

On a NCR 3555, I notice that there are two mail commands: "mail" and "mailx".
This is on SVR4.

Does anyone knwo the difference between the two?

Mailx, if I remember correctly, was more like the BSD mail program, while
mail is the plain AT&T mail program.

Try using "man mailx" and "man mail", assuming your system has man
pages.

mailx has a slightly friendlier interface. One feature mailx provides
that mail doesn't is the ability to delete a range of messages with
one command. There are certainly others but that's the only one I use.
Both mail and mailx are adequate for casual mail use but if you take your
e-mail seriously then you'll want a different MUA; elm or mh or mush...
