Mips to SUN Mail problem

We have a SUN Solaris 2.4 network plus a number of Mips (Control Data)
R3230s (OS EPIX 1.4.3 ie old!). Iam having problems establishing mail between the
sets of servers (both on same network). Basically Iam using sendmail and
can mail from the SUN to mips but get the mail bounced back the other way.
All the 'R' commands are ok.
Any ideas out there
