Does anyone out there know what the difference is between IC Stations's
IC Verify and the newer Calibre product? I have recently seen some
Calibre output and to me it looked identical to the IC Station output.

Also...does Calibre include a function that allows the user to output
geometric data to GDSII or CIF format? (Lacking IC Station, this
would be the only way I could make use of Calibre output...I
hates textual DRC output...)

Thanks,

The difference is that ICverify is integrated into IC Station and do not
have the advanced hierarchical capabilities and the multiprocessor
support that Calibre has. ICverify runs interactively inside IC Station
while Calibre runs independently. Basically ICverify is a integrated
Calibre running flat DRC or LVS.

Calibre allows you to output geometrical data into GDSII, binary format
or ASCII format. The binary format is a result database which can be
read from IC Station. That enables you to debug your layout the same way
as you do with ICrules. One (1) Calibre DRC s/w license allows you to
run Calibre DRC or ICrules (DRC) inside IC Station.

There is also a flow available that allows you to view Calibre output
data
via Opus (yeah, I know it's Cadence ;-). For LVS, it's way better than
trying to figure out the Drac text output. The GDS info it outputs
actually
makes sense! I could dig up our Mentor Apps engineer's name in Colorado
if
you thot it'd be useful.
