All,

I am somewhat unfamiliar with using the eMail client that came with my
G5. Here are some questions where I could use your help.

I am most familiar with using the Microsoft Outlook client. With this
client I can easily move eMail messages into and out of Microsoft
Outlook. For example, I can easily take an eMail and move it out of
Outlook and store it in other locations such as MyDirectory, PST files,
discs, etc. I do not appear to be able to do similar things with
eMails contained within the Macintosh eMail client. For example, I am
not able to drag an eMail out of the Mac eMail and into one of the
folders located in the Finder.

Question: Is it possible to move by dragging (or otherwise) eMails
into or out of the Mac eMail client. Or, are all eMails basically
"stuck" there.

Many thanks for your help.

Double-click the message so it opens in it's own window, then select
file/save-as from the top menubar and save it wherever you want and
choose the format (text, rtf,).
I never use that client, btw. It's lame.
Mozilla (www.mozilla.org) is my choice.

You can just highlight the message, and do File>>Save As, then select
the place and file format where you want it saved.

You can also cut and paste text between Mail and other applications.

Many thanks for the advice - it works. One associated question.
Sometimes I like to do the opposite; by that I mean moving other files
INTO the eMail client. That is, I take data from non-eMail files and
move them into the eMail client's database. For example, in the
Microsoft world I take files out of MyDirectory and move them into
Outlook.

Can I do something similar in my G5. For example, move something our
of the Finder and into the eMail?

Thanks,

I don't think you can to that directly. You can of course attach any
file from the Finder onto an email message, and then file that in the
email database.

You can also copy and paste text from another file to the body of an
email message.
