The HP DeskWriter 550C is a laser-quality, plain-paper personal printer
that provides 300 dpi resolution for black and color, text and graphics,
and uses HP-developed thermal ink-jet technology. The printer can print
true black and color on the same page because it holds two print
cartridges simultaneously. Text print speed is 3 pages per minute. A
full-color page can be printed in approximately 4 to 7 minutes, depending
on application and ink density. The HP DeskWriter 550C includes the same
35 scalable fonts found in the Apple Personal LaserWriter NT and NTR
printers. The printer ships with a QuickDraw driver that uses Intellifont
font-scaling technology to create fonts in any size up to 250 points.
Users can print documents in virtually any color, shade or hue. The
printer can create more than 16 million colors (depending on the software)
by dithering the three process-color inks in the color print cartridges.
Its standard paper tray holds up to 100 sheets of paper or transparency
film or 20 envelopes.
