I can't repeat it.
My test computer is running macOS 10.13 (17A365 - I hadn't installed the
supplemental update at this point), iTunes 12.7.0.166. It is an Early
2011 13-inch MacBook Pro, plugged into power. Music playing through the
built-in speakers (ignoring my usual array of better alternatives).
I manually put the computer into display sleep (Control-Shift-Eject)
while iTunes was playing a track, left it in that state, and the next
track started playing.
Further tests:
1. Installed the supplemental update, now build 17A405 (took two
attempts: the first one didn't take long enough after restart to have
done any significant work).
2. Starting playing a track in iTunes.
3. Adjusted system preferences to sleep display after 1 minute for both
battery and power (computer sleep set for 10 minutes).
4. Let the screen go to sleep by itself.
Music kept playing, next track ok.
5. Unplugged power.
Music kept playing, next track ok.
6. Plugged in power again, waited more than 10 minutes.
Computer did not go to sleep, new tracks kept playing.
(As expected - iTunes playing music should suppress computer sleep.)
7. Set iTunes to play to one of my AirPlay speakers.
8. Let the screen to go to sleep again.
Music kept playing, next track ok.
9. Used remote control on AirPlay speaker to pause and resume.
Computer display stayed off, music kept playing, next track ok.
10. Switched to Bluetooth headphones.
11. Let the screen go to sleep again.
Music kept playing, next track ok.
