I've gotten
0000000f 0000000f
00007fff and 00000066
I'm hoping that it is just a simm but any insight would be
helpful.
Thanks,
John

to my amazement i spent years of my misbegotten life
under the illusion that all such error codes with 'sad macs'
were hardware problems. but, on occasion, such codes can mean a BADLY
tanked system file or an futzed extention or even boot blocks in
disarray. does it start with a boot floppy or from a cd? what does
Norton say? have you tried zapping the PRAM? the reason for suspicion is
that the error seems intermittent.

I'm amazed to see this post, as I've just been through a bad couple of days
invloving this Sad Mac code:
0000000f
00000066
In my case, I was able to boot okay with a floppy disk or with a number of
other hard drives, and determined thereby that the problem was a bad system
install. I had recently updated by system to 7.5.5, which evidently instigated
the whole mess.
A clean reinstall fixed things up nicely.

While I don't know what these specific error codes mean (off the top
of my head), there are a few possibilities, other than hardware, for why
you're receiving them.
The most general reason for receiving a Sad Mac error code that is not
hardware related is damaged or corrupted System Software. The next most
often experienced reason is damaged or corrupted drivers for your hard
drive.
Preforming a 'clean' OS installation will take care of the former,
while sometimes simply updating the drivers for your hard drive(s) will
take care of the latter. Occasionally, however, one needs to completely
reformat the drive for damaged/corrupted drivers. :(
Extensions and Control panels almost never generate a Sad Mac, which
usually occur before any extensions load (or just as the first one or
two load - for those items that load prior to any extension manager
utilities.)
The easiest way to test if the problem is hardware or OS related is to
boot from another source, such as a System CD or a diskette. This,
unfortunately will not help you determine if the problem is actual
hardware (logic board, SIMMs, cache, etc.) or the drivers for your hard
drives(s). It will, however, allow you to determine if the problem is
with your System Software.
